Dive Insight:
This isn't the only report released recently to rank the states on education. The Annie E. Casey Foundation also recently published its latest Kids Count report. It's interesting noting differences. For example, according to the Kid Count document, Mississippi consistently comes in last amongst various sectors such as academics and poverty. However, with the ALEC report, Mississippi is the 48th worst-performing school. When viewing these various reports, it is important to take note of what factors they are zeroing in on to assess a state's performance.
