On-campus crimes at public and private two- and four-year schools reported to police dropped to 30,400 in 2011 from 41,600 in 2001. In 2011, at four-year public schools, 49% of the 14,679 on-campus crimes occurred in residence halls. And at four-year non-profit schools, 61% of the 10,742 on-campus crimes were in residence halls.
