Ferris State U. Board of Trustees receives surprise contract offer from faculty association
- During the public comment period at the latest board of trustees meeting, the president of Ferris State University's faculty association, Jim Rumpf, presented the school's board of trustees with an offer to extend the association's existing contract, which expires in June, for another two years.
- Rumpf said he wanted to give two departing board members--Chair Ronald Snead and member George Menoutes--an opportunity to do “one last great thing as board members," and his offer would extend the current contracts from three years to five with identical terms.
- Rumpf said Wednesday that he hasn't heard from the board or Ferris administrators and that the association's move wasn't signaled by Michigan's new right-to-work law, and Ferris spokesman Marc Sheehan declined to comment on the offer.
