Dive Brief:
- Student coaching firm InsideTrack and Chegg, the self-described “student hub,” have teamed up to offer mobile coaching to college students and recent grads.
- The partnership, announced Monday, will bring individual career coaching to student subscribers and guide them through writing cover letters and resumes, as well as interviewing for jobs.
- A beta version of the service is available now, but it will officially launch in May.
Dive Insight:
Chegg and Inside Track are responding to the tough job market for recent graduates. They cite statistics showing unemployment rates are 2.3 times higher for these job-seekers than for degree holders overall. The idea is that career coaching early on can get students over the hump of securing their first jobs and leave them firmly in privileged territory as college degree holders for the rest of their careers. While virtually all campuses have career services, many students don’t use them. And, if everyone did, career services staff members would find themselves severely understaffed.
