Dive Brief:
- A number of organizations have come together to create opportunities for collaboration and resources for improvement to competency-based education programs.
- Results of a large-scale survey of existing programs are expected by the end of July and will be presented at a first-of-its-kind national conference this fall, the CBExchange.
- The CBE Landscape & Ecosystem Map and the CBE Interactive Design Tool will also be available through C-BEN by this fall, giving free design tools and insights to program leaders looking to start, improve upon, and grow their own competency-based programs.
Dive Insight:
The massive push to understand and improve competency-based education is led by Public Agenda, with support from the Gates and Lumina foundations. The Association of American Colleges and Universities, Competency-Based Education Network, Educause, Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, and Quality Matters are involved as well.
The survey of existing programs is still open and can be completed here. Registration for the Sept. 30 through Oct. 2 conference in Phoenix has not opened yet, but once it does, registration will be limited to 300 participants.
