News Corp.'s ed startup launches $299 Android tablet at SXSWedu

- New York-based education technology start-up Amplify Education Inc. debuted its new $299 Android-powered tablet on Wednesday at the South x Southwest Edu conference in Austin, Texas.
- The Amplify tablet comes bundled with content from Khan Academy, CK-12, Google Apps, EverFi and Desmos, and gives teachers the ability to monitor how students use the device.
- Amplify Education Inc. was formed following the purchase of education start-up Wireless Generation by News Corp., and its CEO is former New York Schools Chancellor Joel Klein.
