Dive Brief:
- Teach For All, a two-year fellowship co-founded by Teach For America founder Wendy Kopp, has launched.
- Teach For All places corps members in 34 participating countries, where they work with students who have "learning differences."
- While "learning differences" can mean students with learning disabilities, the phrasing is left broad on purpose to encapsulate a large array of potential students.
Dive Insight:
Given how polarizing Teach for America is, it's somewhat difficult to weigh in on this move. Those who support TFA will most likely be pleased to see the model expanded, while those who feel the organization's two-year commitment and short training period isn't enough will feel frustrated that the organization is taking its technique "on the road," so to speak. Teach for All is implemented by independent programs local to the countries involved, so some may believe it will have less TFA emphasis. However, on closer inspection, it would appear that many of the "local" organizations are associated with Teach First, which is an already known spin-off of TFA.
