FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (San Diego, Calif.) – SolidProfessor, an online learning company focused on the tools and technologies used in engineering and design, last year provided more than $3 million in Technology Grants to schools.
The middle schools, high schools, community colleges, universities and other post-secondary institutions that received the Technology Grants in the 2015-2016 academic year were able to implement industry-leading curriculum at a fraction of the commercial cost to help their students learn the technical skills they need to be successful. SolidProfessor plans to expand their Technology Grant program for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Director of Education for SolidProfessor Matt May explains why he initiated the Technology Grant program. “There is a growing skills gap in STEM fields as more jobs are being created and there are not enough students graduating with the STEM skills they need for the rapidly growing industries. Schools are challenged with budget cuts and limited resources. Through the SolidProfessor Technology Grant program, we are working with skills to integrate STEM learning solutions into their classroom.”
For the past decade, SolidProfessor has been at the forefront of the technology revolution that is transforming how people learn. Using the most advanced instructional design techniques, SolidProfessor delivers a world-class educational experience to young engineers, designers, architects, manufacturers, and fabricators. A rapidly growing library of courses provides students with learning paths to become proficient in 3D printing, computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing, building information modeling, and other engineering and technology fields.
One school that received a SolidProfessor Technology Grant is Tulsa Technology Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Michael Doering, a licensed architect, uses SolidProfessor to teach his students how to use SOLIDWORKS and to prepare them for the CSWA (Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate) certification test. Doering shares, “Once I found SolidProfessor and their Technology Grant Program, I set up assignments for my students, and then we could spend time in class on lessons that continue to build on the skills they learned on their own. Now I can make sure everyone is getting the same information. The lessons are right to the point, they have worked for my students.”
Nine of Doering’s students passed the CSWA, one of whom even achieved a perfect score.
