2013 NMC Horizon Report identifies six technologies that will change higher ed
- New Media Consortium and the Educause Learning Initiative released the annual NMC Horizon Report, listing MOOCs, tablet computing, wearable gadgets, gamification, learning analytics and 3D printing among the six technologies that will impact higher education in the next five years.
- The six technologies listed in the report are further broken down into time-based categories, i.e. near term (MOOCs and tablet computing), mid-term (learning analytics and gamification) and longer term (3D printing and wearable tech).
- The report also identifies six critical challenges facing education, topped by the virtual lack of technology training for faculty members.
