American Enterprise Institute announces new Center on Higher Education Reform
- The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) announced the launch of the Center on Higher Education Reform Thursday in a bid to increase its influence on U.S. higher education reform.
- Under AEI founding director Andrew P. Kelly's direction, the think tank's new arm will "conduct independent, data-driven research and analysis" meant to influence policy and reform efforts as decisions are made concerning issues that include rapid tuition increases, poor completion rates and ballooning student debt.
- The CHER team also includes research associate Kathryn C. Deane and research fellow Dr. Awilda Rodriguez, who is a college access, college match and state policy expert.

... “I will say that I think the establishment of CHER does reflect AEI’s sense that higher education is going to become an increasingly important issue in the coming years,” said Kelly. “It already is, and I think there’s a sense that the issues of college cost and lackluster completion rates, student debt aren’t going anywhere any time soon.”
