Boston on lockdown, schools cancelled as authorities hunt for gunman
- The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and Boston and Emerson Colleges have all canceled Friday classes due to the ongoing manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombers, with other area colleges likely to do so.
- The cancelations follow the Thursday night shooting of an MIT police officer by what is believed to be one of the bombing suspects, and the city's announcement that the regional transit system would also be shut down Friday.
- One of the suspects was killed in a firefight, and Boston officials are asking that everyone in Boston and surrounding communities stay indoors as the manhunt for the second suspect continues.
