Can Microsoft gain education foothold with Surface RT?
- Microsoft is planning to offer its Surface RT tablets to K-12 schools and higher-education institutions for $199.
- Beginning June 24, educators will be able to sign up for the deal via a Microsoft-supplied form, likely being required to buy in bulk.
- Microsoft's push with the Surface RT tablets is likely in response to Google's recent efforts that landed $249 Samsung Chromebooks in over 1,000 schools nationwide and its further plans to put Google Apps running on Chromebooks in over 10 million students' hands.
