Coursera and edX hope to expand reach with international university partners
- New partnerships double the number of universities offering MOOCs through both Coursera and edX.
- The new partnerships signal a push by both MOOC providers' to expand their global reach, with 16 of Coursera's 29 new partners being in places like Italy, Hong Kong, France and Spain, while five of edX's six new partners are located in countries including Canada and Switzerland.
- Thanks to the new partnerships, Coursera and edX are also now sharing three partners--the University of Toronto, Rice University and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, which were all already affiliated with Coursera when they partnered with edX.
