- Andrew Ng, co-founder of Coursera, is leaving his day-to-day role at the online education company.
- Ng, a Stanford University researcher, is joining Chinese search engine provider Baidu as its chief scientist.
- He will continue as Coursera’s chairman and continue to evangelize for the company.
Gigaom.com reports that Ng will help to build out Baidu’s Silicon Valley A.I. Lab in Sunnyvale, CA. Baidu has three such research and development labs, including Sunnyvale, Beijing Deep Learning Lab, and Beijing Big Data Lab. Ng, an expert in machine learning and artificial intelligence, is head of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Lab and teaches machine learning courses on Coursera. Coursera will continue to offer his courses.
