- St. Louis Community College's Meramec campus president, George Wasson, announced his resignation Monday, effective immediately, amid controversy over the handling of an on-campus assault on a female student.
- The assault occurred in a women's restroom on the campus when 19-year-old student Blythe Grupe was grabbed by her neck and pulled to the floor by an 18-year-old male student who she did not know, and ended when an instructor heard Grupe's screams and rushed to help.
- The assailant, Jevon Mallory, was quoted in an initial police report as saying he was "trying to withdraw her from life," and was released by campus police after being barred from campus before being re-arrested last Tuesday and charged with felony assault.
