Ed. Dept. approves for-profit Capella's competency-based program
- Capella University's competency-based FlexPath program was approved by the U.S. Department of Education, just three months after its May approval by Capella's accreditor.
- FlexPath allows students enrolled in the for-profit online university to earn bachelor's and master's degrees in business at their own pace through direct assessment, and they will also be eligible for federal student aid.
- Since announcing guidelines for competency-based programs in March via a "Dear Colleague" letter, the department has also approved programs at Southern New Hampshire University and the University of Wisconsin.
