Education technology fund University Ventures launches UV Labs
- The $100 million education technology fund University Ventures, which was created earlier this year to help fund higher education companies, announced UV Labs, a startup of its own, on Monday.
- UV Labs, led by co-founder and CEO Satish Menon (a former CTO of for-profit giant Apollo Group), will operate as an independent company and will partner with universities and other higher education providers to create products addressing issues including accessibility, affordability and accountability.
- Other investments by University Ventures--which is backed by partners including German media company Bertelsmann and University of Texas Investment Management Company--include UniversityNow, an online learning site aimed at making degrees more affordable, as well as Synergis Education and Ameritas College Educational Services.
