Educause identifies top 10 IT issues for 2015
- Educause on Wednesday released its annual list of top 10 IT issues facing higher ed.
- Topping the higher ed technology association's 2015 list are recruiting and retaining qualified IT staff, as well as keeping existing staff up to date on their skills.
- The research also shows that colleges and universities face a widening tech adoption gap that they'll need to address if they are to meet IT security and cost challenges, as well as "new normals" like mobile, cloud, online learning, and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies.
Also on the way from Educause is research highlighting its top 10 strategic technologies for 2015, and the organization says this year will be "all about mobile."
Educause is the largest technology association in higher ed, so its research is a must-read for anyone in the field. The IT issues research is compiled by a 22-member panel of higher ed CIOs, and that research, along with information from the strategic technologies survey, which was distributed to around 10,000 Educause members and completed by 368, also helps determine the programming for the organization's annual conference in the fall.
Be on the lookout over the next few days as we take a closer look at the data.
