Dive Brief:
- Educause President and CEO Diana Oblinger will retire in March 2015.
- She has been with the higher ed tech association for a decade, joining as a vice president in 2004. She became president in 2008, and other Educause officials credit her with the organization's continuing expansion.
- Not only did Oblinger oversee the formation of new professional development programs and millions of dollars in grants, but she launched its first online events, created groups and programs like the Educause Learning Initiative and Next Generation Learning Challenge, and wrote the 2012 book Game Changers: Education and Information Technologies.
Dive Insight:
Clearly, Oblinger will leave big shoes to fill at Educause, as her time at its helm was clearly instrumental in promoting it to its current level of influence among higher ed IT professionals. The board of directors will begin its search for a new president in the next few weeks.
