English teachers cast wide net with education crowdfunding startup IncitED
- Clackamas Community College English teachers Kevilina Burbank and Jaime Wood grew tired of seeing educational funding ideas go nowhere and launched education crowdfunding site IncitED in April after taking a free online course about crowdfunding, enlisting two others as co-founders and raising around $35,000 in seed funding from savings, friends, family and two investors.
- The site has hosted eight campaigns and has a wide focus, with projects ranging from schools and classrooms to museums and libraries, and its current goal is to double the number of campaigns each month.
- The site's founders are eyeing Aug. 1 for a post-beta launch.
