Five MOOCs receive American Council on Education credit endorsement
- The American Council on Education endorsed five Coursera MOOCs for credit Thursday.
- The approved courses include Duke University's "Introduction to Genetics and Evolution" and "Bioelectricity: A Quantitative Approach," the University of California at Irvine's "Pre-Calculus" and "Algebra," and the University of Pennsylvania's "Calculus: Single-Variable."
- The council's endorsement doesn't guarantee that colleges will grant credit toward a traditional degree to students trying to redeem Coursera certificates, but MOOCs could become more economically significant if colleges do follow through.
