Gov. Scott blasts plan to raise tuition in Fla.
- On Tuesday, Florida Gov. Rick Scott said he is firmly against the state House's plan to raise tuition at state universities and colleges by 6%, calling it a tax on students and families.
- The Florida Senate also says that it doesn't plan to include a tuition hike in its budget proposal.
- In exchange for not raising tuition, as Scott's plan calls for, the State University System requested $118 million, which the Senate includes in its proposal while the House does not.
