If you have been reading Education Dive over the past two weeks, you know that we just published the full results of our 2013 "Mobility in Higher Education" survey, and smartphone and tablet choices took center stage. After asking 50 CIOs at universities and colleges about their mobile devices, we saw three key categories where Apple is winning.
Based on these numbers, we expect that you will continue to see education software developers prioritize iOS devices—especially iPads—for the foreseeable future.
1. CIOS' PERSONAL SMARTPHONES
Survey results: The iPhone showed up in more than twice as many hands as Android phones, with Windows phones claiming a distant third place.

2. CIOS' WORK TABLETS
Survey results: The iPad dwarfed its competition, showing up as the work tablet of choice for 72% of the CIOs we questioned.
3. UNIVERSITY DEVICE PURCHASES
Survey results: Android phones made their strongest showing here, but they still lagged behind iPhones and iPads.
So what do you think? Are you surprised? Do these results reflect the state of mobile tech at your institution?
