LearnSprout recently unveiled its Early Warning Solution (EWS), a new data analysis service that identifies students who may be at-risk of dropping out so that schools can intervene before it's too late.
The product is available for grades K-12 and uses recent assessments and live data to make recommendations.
- EWS doesn't just identify at-risk students, but zeros in on systemic district issues that may have contributed to a students' struggles, specifically compiling data on subgroups and demographics so schools can look for trends.
In April, Civic Enterprises, the Everyone Graduates Center, America's Promise Alliance, and the Alliance for Excellent Education released the 2014 Building a GradNation report, which spotlighted strides made in the U.S. graduation rate, which is reportedly at an all-time high of 80%. While the gains are commendable, another report from Communities in Schools, a network of non-profits in 27 states and the District of Columbia that works to address the dropout epidemic, serves as a reminder that there is still a disconnect when it comes to minority students. According to CIS' research, five inequalities still contribute to high school dropout rates: hunger, poor eyesight, lack of adequate or appropriate clothing, homelessness, and lack of reliable transportation.
