Lynda.com taps former Ancestry.com exec as chief revenue officer
- Andrew Wait, former president of London-based online English school EF Englishtown and general manager of Ancestry.com, was announced Tuesday as the new chief revenue officer of Lynda.com.
- In his new role at the online learning company, he'll focus on global expansion, marketing, customer experience, and enterprise sales while reporting to CEO Eric Robison, Lynda.com said in a release.
- Wait's hiring follows the unveiling of the company's new San Francisco office, which will soon be filling a number of marketing, engineering, product management, and user experience positions.
Among its lessons in a variety of subjects and fields, Lynda.com also, as we've written recently, offers professional development content for educators. The company was founded in 1995, offering videotape lessons, and has since grown to become a leading online learning provider. Among its latest developments: Learning matrixes, which show users courses already taken or in progress using an easy-to-view interface, as well as text transcripts and the ability to search for content specifically in an earmarked "education" category.
Wait's experience should serve him well as he looks to help the company build out its presence in San Francisco's bustling tech talent pool.
