McGraw-Hill Education to acquire Aleks Corp.
- McGraw-Hill plans to purchase adaptive learning technology company Aleks Corp., its first acquisition since it was bought by Apollo Global Management for $2.4 billion in January.
- Aleks' research-based artificial intelligence is capable of suggesting what a student is ready to learn based on its ability to figure out what they already know or don't know, and it has already been marketed and sold for college-level math by McGraw-Hill Education for over a decade.
- The transaction is expected to be completed early in the third quarter, and plans include incorporating Aleks into existing content and digital platforms while continuing to sell it as a standalone product.
