Michigan State launches food MOOC portal with EdCast
- Michigan State University on Wednesday announced the launch of Foodchannel.msu.edu.
- The educational portal, powered by online education platform provider EdCast, will offer food-related MOOCs and resources.
- Registration for the first round of courses on the platform begins today.
Among Michigan State's initial offerings are courses on food fraud and urban agriculture (with registration opening for both on Nov. 3), as well as basic food safety. Additionally, archive resources are available for food fraud and food safety.
The Foodchannel portal is a result of a previous successful food fraud MOOC from the university, according to Assistant Provost and MSU Global Executive Director Christine Geith.
It is also the latest feather in the cap for EdCast, a Stanford StartX company that recently raised $6 million in funding and is looking to promote the idea of the "multiversity." For more on EdCast, keep an eye out over the next few days for our recent interview with CEO Karl Mehta.
