- As Aug. 15, Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, N.C., will officially be known as Mars Hill University, the school announced Wednesday.
- The private liberal arts school's name upgrade accompanies its master of education program, which produced its first graduates this year.
- The school is considering other masters programs and plans to open a new campus in South Asheville, N.C.
Replacing the word college with university in an institution's title is nothing new as schools grow and offer more programs. Other notable examples of colleges making this change in 2013 include D.C. and Virginia's Potomac College becoming University of the Potomac, Illinois' Rockford College becoming Rockford University and Tennessee's Johnson Bible College becoming Johnson University.
