New online associate degree program partners Mount St. Mary's with MyCollege Foundation
- Mount St. Mary's is teaming up with MyCollege Foundation, a nonprofit that received $3 million from the Gates Foundation, to create Portmont College at Mount St. Mary's to help students who have more "grit" than academic credentials earn online associate's degrees.
- Portmont's offers degree programs in business administration, computer science, liberal arts and pre-science health, and each program is built around "core capabilities" like critical thinking, teamwork, problem solving and performance character.
- Though the courses are taken online, students will meet in person at least once during each eight-week session with a "success coach" and other local students.
