New Orleans and Detroit lead the nation in charter school enrollment
- A new report released by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools shows that New Orleans and Detroit rank No. 1 and No. 2 respectively for the percentage of students enrolled in charter schools.
- In New Orleans, 76% of students are enrolled in charter schools, and Detroit's percentage rose to 41% from 37% since last year's report.
- Michigan has four other cities (Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing and Traverse City) in the list's top 20, and about 7%, or just over 120,000, of the state's students attend one of its 276 charter schools.
