NYU expansion lawsuit dismissed
- New York State Supreme Court Justice Ellen M. Coin dismissed a lawsuit claiming that Greenwich Village residents' rights were violated by NYU's plan to transform a block of the neighborhood during 20 years of construction, saying it was too early to completely measure the NYU 2031 plan's impact.
- Resident were advised by Justice Coin to present their claim to the state's Division of Housing and Community Renewal.
- The group, calling themselves WSV Green Neighbors, argued that the plan would do away with the private park-grounds of the four Washington Square Village residential towers, taking away a legally required service from the complex's 350 rent-stabilized residents.
