NYU visiting professor under fire for 'fat-shaming' obese students
- New York University visiting evolutionary psychology professor Geoffrey Miller tweeted on Sunday, "Dear obese PhD applicants: If you don't have the willpower to stop eating carbs, you won't have the willpower to do a dissertation. #truth."
- Tweeters including NYU colleague Jay Rosen and Wired writer Steve Silberman called Miller out on the inappropriate nature of the since-deleted tweet, which he apologized for and called "idiotic, impulsive, and badly judged."
- It is unknown what consequences Miller may face for the tweet, though the fact that his CV states he has sat on admissions committees before further complicates matters.
