Dive Brief:
- The Active Times has released its 50 Fittest Colleges list, and Texas A&M University is No. 1.
- Rounding out the top 5 are the U.S. Military Academy — West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the Citadel, and Pennsylvania State University.
- Alas, Harvard University didn’t make the list, and Stanford University was only No. 21. Yale University was the top-ranked Ivy League school, at No. 38.
Dive Insight:
Apparently, many higher ed institutions weren’t even considered for the list — the Active Times said it examined “more than 100 of America’s top colleges and universities.” As for factors affecting campus fitness, the publication looked at campus gym amenities, climate, professional dietary advice, closeness to outdoor recreation, campus-wide fitness programs, the numbers and success and student involvement for sports programs, campus dining options, and quality of life.
