Pa. gov. asks acting state Ed. Secretary Harner to step down
- Pennsylvania's acting education secretary, William Harner, is being forced to vacate the gubernatorial cabinet position not even three months after stepping into the role.
- Harner was formerly superintendent of Cumberland Valley School District from 2008 until May of this year, when he replaced Ronald Tomalis; a yet-to-be-disclosed incident that occurred during his stint at Cumberland Valley is said to be the reason he was asked to step down.
- Deputy Secretary Carolyn Dumaresq will replace Harner effective immediately.
