Pennsylvania faculty union plans Thursday demonstration over ongoing contract talks
- The Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties is planning a demonstration during the board of governor's meeting for the State System of Higher Education Thursday to protest what it says are stalled contract talks.
- The union represents faculty at Pennsylvania's 14 public universities, where union members have been working without a contract since June 2011 and voted last year to authorize union leaders to call a strike.
- The next round of negotiations is scheduled for Feb. 1, but the state system is expected to offer a new comprehensive proposal before then.
