Pennsylvania Gov. Corbett announces lawsuit against NCAA
- Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett announced his plans to sue the NCAA in federal court over sanctions placed on, and agreed to by, Penn State following the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal.
- Among the sanctions are a $60 million fine that would finance child abuse prevention grants nationwide, though lawmakers at the state and federal levels have objected to the money being spent outside of Pennsylvania.
- In a Dec. 12 letter, NCAA President Mark Emmert said that a task force would be responsible for appropriating at least 25% of the fine money to Pennsylvania programs.
