Police: Ex-UCF student planned mass shooting before killing himself
- According to police, James Oliver Seevakumaran, a former University of Central Florida student still living on campus who took his own life early Monday morning, had plans to kill others in the Tower 1 dorm building before changing his mind.
- Seevakumaran died from a single gunshot to the head by a recently purchased gun, and police searching his dorm room found writings indicating a "planned attack," an assault rifle with a 28-bullet magazine, a handgun, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and a backpack with handmade explosives.
- Police believe the Seevakumaran pulled a fire alarm shortly after midnight and planned to shoot other residents while they evacuated the building, but changed his mind and shot himself after pulling a gun on a roommate who escaped to the bathroom and called 911.
