Dive Brief:
- Research institute RTI International has released a web tool that tracks the success of community college students.
- The tool, called the Completion Arch, tracks data on students beginning at enrollment, including when they take remedial courses, their intermediate progress, transfer and completion rates, and workforce preparation and employment measures.
- The tool uses 500 measures of colleges from federal and state sources, the Chronicle of Higher Education reports.
Dive Insight:
Some of the state-level data on the website is intentionally missing or incomplete because RTI International want states to see the tool as a work in progress, and see where they can add their own data to make it more effective. (Of course, they also want additional funding from those states to make further improvements.) Another goal of compiling the data in one place is to encourage collaboration between colleges and businesses.
