Stanford to help edX build non-profit open-source platform
- Stanford University is teaming up with edX, the MOOC platform founded by fellow Ivy Leaguers Harvard and MIT, to collaborate on the development of an open source learning platform and provide free online learning tools for institutions worldwide.
- Stanford will integrate features of its Class2Go platform into the edX Learning Platform, the entire source code of which will be released on June 1.
- Additionally, Stanford will continue its partnerships with Coursera and other MOOC providers, and will also retain its own online course portal instead of registering students through edX.
