Tennessee launches online university to help adults complete their degrees
- Western Governors University Tennessee was launched Tuesday by Gov. Bill Haslam.
- The online school is meant to serve as a cost-efficient solution for adults with college credit looking to finish accredited bachelor's or master's degrees in business, education, health or information technology, and it will initially have 700 students merged into its program.
- WGU is funded with $5 million from the state of Tennessee and a $750,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and it also plans to help its graduates find jobs.
