- The Higher Learning Commission on Monday approved the University of Charleston to take over Mountain State University's operations, creating UC-Beckley, UC-Martinsburg and a new online program called UC-Net.
- Beckley and Martinsburg classes are slated to begin on Jan. 14, while UC-Net instruction should commence Jan. 7.
- In the expansion, the University of Charleston is hiring 65 former MSU faculty and staff members who had worked for the school prior to its loss of accreditation this year.
