Unizin finds another member in the University of Iowa
- The University of Iowa announced Thursday that it had joined Unizin, a university consortium focused on developing analytics and content management solutions.
- As part of its membership, UI is set for a summer and fall 2015 pilot of the Canvas LMS.
- The university presented the idea of joining Unizin to over 220 faculty and staff through 20 presentations and discussions that took place during the fall, receiving an overall positive response.
Unizin is nonprofit and focused on developing open solutions for use among its members, who retain ownership of all content stored and shared via its cloud-based platforms. Among current members: Colorado State University, Indiana University, Oregon State University, the University of Florida, the University of Michigan, the University of Minnesota, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Penn State University.
Joining reportedly costs a pretty penny, though — or, to be exact, a reported $1 million.
