Virginia Tech planning to open research center in India
- Virginia Tech will next year open the Virginia Tech ICTAS Innovation Center, its largest research center outside the United States, in Chennai, India.
- The 6,000-square-foot facility will be overseen by the university's growing Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science, and the university will provide as much as $1.5 million in start-up funds while partner MARG Ltd. will provide the high-tech labs with equipment.
- The center will focus on three areas of research: low-cost energy technologies, advanced communication and "smart" radio systems, and nanotechnology.
