WATERBURY, CT – Post University® has appointed 35-year emergency services veteran Scott Stevenson Director of Campus Safety and Emergency Management. Stevenson will be responsible for creating a culture of safety within the University community and for bringing together students and associates as part of that process.

Among other duties, Stevenson will lead campus Securitas contract security personnel, direct the University Threat Assessment Team, and engage students and associates in preparedness efforts, which will encompass safety training and emergency drills, among other elements. He also will be actively involved with Post online students, helping ensure they operate in a safe and secure learning environment.

Prior to joining Post University’s senior leadership team, Stevenson was Director of Operations for Northwest CT Public Safety, where he provided regional emergency dispatch services to local police, fire and emergency medical teams. During this time, he met regularly with partner representatives to plan school safety drills and related activities.

Stevenson began his emergency services career in 1983 as a paramedic until his appointment to the Waterbury Police Department in 1995. Within the Police Department, he rose to the rank of lieutenant, served as commander of the Community Relations Division, and was chief-of-staff to the police chief prior to his retirement. Stevenson currently serves as a reserve police officer with the Thomaston Police Department.

“Scott’s extensive background with local law enforcement agencies and his expertise in planning campus emergency drills and associated events will bring ‘hands-on’ school safety initiatives to our University,” said Post CEO and President John L. Hopkins. “He is a great addition to our team and will help ensure that each and every Post student enjoys a welcoming and supportive learning environment.”

Stevenson resides in Thomaston, CT, with his wife, daughter, son and the family’s golden retriever, Hank.
