The Cosmetology program at Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) recently garnered national recognition from EDsmart.org, ranking 15th in their list of Top 20 Cosmetology and Beauty Schools.
EDSmart is an organization which provides scholastic information on colleges and posted this ranking on their website, August 14.
The rankings were chosen based on academic quality and affordability, and all data used in this ranking was found at the National Center for Education Statistics, according to the post on their website.
“This recognition from EDSmart is a blessing and an honor,” shared Lisa Jones, OFTC’s Cosmetology instructor. “It proves our instructors and students are dedicated to their profession of choice and this will also help others to see what great things OFTC offers to our local communities,” she added.
OFTC’s Cosmetology Program offers a cosmetology diploma and a shampoo technician certificate at their campuses in Sandersville and Dublin, both which can prepare students for careers in the Cosmetology industry which emphasizes skills pertaining to hair, skin and nails.
During the program, students gain hands-on experience in the college’s salon that’s open to the public and are prepared to take their certification exam at the end of their program to become state-licensed cosmetologists.
“Being a small school, the students at OFTC have more one-on-one time with instructors than they may have at a larger institution,” Jones said. “We build relationships with our students and we look forward to watching them grow and seeing where their new professions will take them.”
