Dive Insight:
In a statement, David Schneider, lecturer for Cornell’s system engineering program, said challenges like the prototype contest encourage its students to stretch their creativity and develop designs that solve real-world problems. In previous Make: contests, contestants have built an aerial film platform, plushies based on video game characters, and a four-wheeled bike created from recycled materials. The deadline for contest entries is April 30. Applicants must present a description of their prototype, which must not already be on the market or seeking crowdfunding, and up to eight photos. Making a video is optional.
