TOWSON STUDENTS EXPERIENCE POWER
OF NEW OUTDOOR SOLAR CHARGING STATIONS
Towson University First to Test Pilot Program with CarrierClass Green Infrastructure’s New ConnecTablesTM Solar Charging Station
(TOWSON, MD) – Towson University students who wish to take their studies outdoors will have the first opportunity to test the ConnecTableTM Solar Charging Station, on exhibit until mid-March 2014.
As students become more dependent on laptops and tablets, staying connected to a power source limits students to very short stints outdoors. CarrierClass Green Infrastructure’s ConnecTableTM Solar Charging Stations address this problem with an eco-friendly, energy-efficient approach. The robust power stations are available in café, picnic and deck table forms and bring a unique perspective to today’s students’ need to stay connected.
Towson University Energy Manager Steve Kolb says the tables are a good fit for the forward-thinking students who have responded well to past solar projects.
“Our hope is to make it easy to charge a range of devices conveniently and energy-efficiently,” Kolb says.
This will launch a pilot program for CCGI who will leave the table at various university site locations to let the students experience the power of the table. Following the pilot, universities will have the option to purchase customized tables with their own graphics and colors.
These fully engineered solar power charging and backup power systems are designed to accommodate a range of table design aesthetics, surface materials and site design objectives. They are also an ideal enhancement for city parks, outdoor malls, sports complexes, mixed-use developments, theme parks and more. Multiple tables can be combined to form a micro grid and a backup power source during extended power outages.
Qualifying organizations may be eligible for low interest financing of the tables through the Sustainable Energy Fund (www.thesef.org). Tables qualify for the 30% investment tax credit[1][2] offered to businesses that install solar. Universities can also use designated green funds to purchase tables.
A division of CarrierClass Group, CarrierClass Green Infrastructure (CCGI) designs, sells and installs solar electric, solar thermal, and custom off-grid solar power products for commercial and residential customers.
